PANAMA: Embera and Kuna ecotourism programs thrive

An article published in the Boston Metro newspaper notes Panama’s new status as a tourist “hot spot”. It cites the appeal of the country’s biodiversity, mountain regions and seaside resorts, but also highlights the important role of the indigenous Embera and Kuna people in attracting more visitors. The Embera and the Kuna have both developed ecotourism programs as a positive response to the constant influx of tourists to their territories.
