In an effort to return law and order to Mexico’s southern region of Chiapas, the state government has launched a plan calling for an end to illegal activities performed by Zapatista sympathizers living in autonomous communities. The latest governmental strategy also demands a halt to attacks against Zapatista sympathizers by paramilitary forces who have been accused of receiving support from past state governments.
