Lawsuit against “Hawaiian-only benefits” for OHA dismissed

U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway discarded the most recent case against the state’s Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), declaring that it was not the position of the court to hinder the congressional dispute regarding Hawaiians’ political standing. This case is part of a two-year succession of lawsuits that seek to deny Native Hawaiians political status similar to Native Americans, which would afford them special benefits and governmental programs.
