HONDURAS: Indigenous groups oppose neo-liberal government actions

After days of struggle, the indigenous peoples of Honduras have sworn to deepen their resistance against new land laws, civil service laws, and other neo-liberal legislation being pushed by the government. Indigenous human rights workers have denounced the Honduran government who they accuse of punishing citizens whose views vary from the official line. In a form of protest, indigenous groups will continue to plant giant crucifixes outside of the National Congress as a symbol of the imposition of neo-liberal laws, institutional corruption, unemployment, human rights violations, and extreme poverty.
