GREENLAND: “Good School” program aims to address dropout problems

Drop-out rates among Inuit in Greenland schools are high. At a new “Business High School” in a community in southern Greenland, half of the 35 students have dropped out since August. A new government plan to improve schools, dubbed Atuarfialak, hopes to change this, but teachers are concerned that the “Good School” program will cause them to become increasingly overworked in already difficult conditions.
