The Fiji Labour Party (FLP) unanimously voted the only indigenous Fijian in Parliament,
Poseci Bune, as their deputy leader on February 18. Previously holding the position
on the management board of the FLP, Bune replaces Krishna Datt who remains the
party whip. Approximately 27 percent of the House of Representatives are Labor
Party members. Bune will become deputy prime minister if the FLP wins the general
elections in 2006.
