ETHIOPIA: Relentless drought drains pastoralists of life

More than 740,000 pastoralists in the northeastern region of Afar continue to suffer from last year’s failed rains, leaving less than half of their cattle alive. The Ethiopian government has appealed for aid for food, health services, and emergency support. Though the devastation is widespread, humanitarian organizations have reported that good rains began to fall this June – a sign of hope for the future.
