EEDP cites human rights violations by LTTE during ceasefire

In a letter addressed to the diplomatic community, Secretary General and leader of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EEDP) Douglas Devananda cited recurrent hostilities committed against the civilian population by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) after a ceasefire agreement was signed in February 2003. The letter was sent to representatives from 17 Western nations who visited on Jan. 19 to speak with LTTE about the violent acts, suppression of human rights, and LTTE’s refusal to recognize political and ethnic pluralism.
