On July 11th, the Congress of Ecuadorian People (Congreso de los Pueblos del Ecuador) expressed frustrations with President Lucio Gutiérrez and his “neo-liberal” policies. Congress has among many other objectives committed to a nationwide organization of indigenous representation and autonomy, an end to privatization of resources, and worker’s rights. Gutiérrez previously held strong indigenous support.
