Professor Gary Genosko of Lakehead University is seeking help from the Inuit for his current study on impact of numbers and information on society. Genosko is asking Inuit what, if anything, they do with their now-defunct disc numbers. Disc numbers were part of a government-assigned identification strategy implemented in the 1950s, which was later replaced by the “surname project.”
