BURMA: Ethnic conflict continues to displace indigenous peoples of Burma

Karen, Shan, as well as several other ethnic groups indigenous to Burma continue to suffer under a civil war that has lasted more than fifty years. Recent developments include the arrival of 700 new Karen refugees in Thailand and Shan victories over Burmese forces.
