Botswana authorities continue to carry out efforts to remove San communities from their ancestral homes in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. In addition to cutting off the delivery of governmental services, authorities are now dismantling the remaining water pumps in the area and emptying tanks of their reserves. Hunters have been arrested, detained and tortured for carrying out traditional subsistence activities, and many have been barred from returning to their homes without special permits.
