Marcial Fabricano, president of the Confederation of the Indigenous Peoples of Bolivia (CIDOB), has started a hunger strike to protest the lack of indigenous consultation in the next amendment of the National Political Constitution. Other civil and indigenous organizations, such as COICA, have declared their intention to support the strike. As a result congressional discussions have been indefinitely suspended.
