Federal Heritage Minister David Kemp ended hopes of saving the burned down remains of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra on Thursday, June 26th. Tent Embassy supporters had petitioned to save the site under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Act. Kemp, however, denied their request, claiming that it did not meet the requirements specified by the Heritage Act.
