AUSTRALIA: Indigenous fishermen blamed for death of protected aquatic life

Terry Yumbulul, involved with the Indigenous coastal care group, is retaliating against the findings of a new national survey which shows that indigenous fishing has killed thousands of protected fish and other ocean creatures. The indigenous fishermen are within the legal catch limit, but the survey has suggested a cap on the indigenous take. Yumbulul claims that commercial and recreational net fishermen have the largest impact on the environment, rather than the Indigenous fishermen, who fish responsibly and seasonally.
