ARGENTINA: Wayu and Anu peoples decry pollution of Sinamaica

Sinamaica, a lagoon on the northeastern coast Argentina, is facing threats from increased pollution. The lagoon, home to Wayu and Anu indigenous nations, has been polluted by oil operations in Lake Maracaibo. Spills, run-off, and sewage from the drilling operations trickle into the lagoon daily, and cause serious health problems for the surrounding communities. The animals of the lagoon are also dying, and fishing is becoming increasingly low yielding.
