ARCTIC: Ozone in Arctic varies widely

A study using NASA satellite data shows that the ozone layer in the Arctic “fluctuates widely,” largely in response to the “Arctic vortex,” a band of high winds. Far from alleviating concern over ozone loss, however, the scientists note the importance of the Montreal Convention regulations and hope to use this new understanding to better assess the effectiveness of international agreements regarding the ozone layer.
