ALGERIA: Tamazight to be used on flights

Algerian newspaper Liberte recently reported that Khalifa Airways, a private Algerian airline, will introduce Tamazight on its flights. Tamazight is the language used by Imazighen throughout North Africa. It was recognized as an official language of Algeria in March 2002. The World Amazigh Action Coalition had written to urge the company to train its flight staff to use Tamazight, in order to accommodate its many Tamazight-speaking passengers. The Amazigh have suffered discrimination for using their language in Algeria and other North African countries.
