AFGHANISTAN: Displaced Kuchis fear for their future

About 400,000 Kuchis, a traditionally nomadic people of Afghanistan, are facing a humanitarian crisis. Afghanistan’s many conflicts have forced the Kuchis to move to the southern region of the country, where a long and severe drought has caused significant livestock losses. The Kuchis are dependent on their herds for food and income, and are threatened with starvation during the oncoming winter. Their conditions are desperate, and they are increasingly dependent on the intermittent humanitarian aid, which arrives perhaps once every four months.
