At the two-day Karamoja-Kenya border security meeting state minister Peter Lokeris criticized the pastoralist Karimojong for inter-clan raids that he called “stupid” and detrimental to the value of blood relationships. The meeting was attended by security officials from the area in hopes of working towards a peaceful relationship between the Turkana, Pokot, Tepes and Karimojong. While some politicians supported the warriors’ cattle raids in the region, Lokeris urged the Karimojong to follow the model of the Turkana, who have no tradition of inter-clan raiding.
