HONDURAS: Indigenous men jailed unlawfully

Two indigenous advocates from the Lenca people in Honduras, in jail since their arrest on January 8, 2003, were sentenced to 25 years in prison on charges of murder, assault, land usurpation, grand cattle theft, and attempt against the state, despite a lack of substantiating evidence. The appeal of the ruling will take place between January 5-7, accompanied by protests of the Civic Council of Indigenous and Popular Organizations.
