The violent struggles between the guerrillas of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) and the paramilitaries of the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC) have significantly impacted the people of the Bojaya region in the Choco department. So far, more than five thousand refugees -- both civilians and indigenous people -- have been created, with at least 120 reported dead.
