Survival International announced this week that 100,000 people from around the world have signed a petition calling on the Botswana government to allow the Bushmen of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve to return to their ancestral homes. This week the petition was presented at Botswana embassies in 11 countries; in Kenya, members of the Ogiek tribe handed in the petition, in a show of solidarity. The Bushmen continue to face bureaucratic obstacles in even visiting their former homes, and face harassment from officials if they do attempt to return.
