New York, NY (September 17, 2017) – Robby Romero, (Red Thunder) Native Rock music pioneer behind Native Children’s Survival, and American Indian Movement elders, Dennis Banks, Madonna Thunder Hawk, and Phyllis Young, are joining forces with PledgeMusic to launch a pre-order campaign in support of Born On The Rez, a new single, music video, public service announcement, and rockumentary film dedicated to continuing missions born out of the Standing Rock movement. Launching in honor of the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851, signed on September 17, 1851 between United States treaty commissioners and representatives of the Cheyenne, Sioux, Arapaho, Crow, Assiniboine, Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nations, the campaign taps music fans and supporters of Indigenous rights and culture in an effort to raise awareness of the wisdom in upholding and honoring Treaties made with Native Nations.

Supporters can pre-order the music video, rockumentary film and music on the #Honor1851Treaty campaign page. The leaders in direct-to-fan platforms, PledgeMusic allows artists to get more personal with their fans and supporters, offering unprecedented access to the creative process behind their passion projects.

Central to the #Honor1851Treaty campaign, the brainchild of Robby Romero, is Romero's song Born On The Rez, one of many tunes the artist and Water Protector penned while living in camp at Standing Rock to honor Native Nations and the Treaties made beginning with the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851. The campaign further highlights the human and cultural rights of Water Protectors now facing state and federal charges for their peaceful spiritual resistance at Standing Rock. For the recording at Capitol Records, Romero gathered a collection of the industry's most eminent Native and Non-Native Grammy Award-winning musicians, producers and engineers. The single is executive-produced by Dennis Banks and Laila Nabulsi, produced by Don Was, engineered by Ed Cherney, mixed by Steve Addabbo, mastered by Howie Weinberg, and features musicians Jim Cox, Gary Farmer, Jim Keltner, Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar and Robert Mirabal. The Water Protector chorus features Ta’Kayia Blaney, Dakota Romero, Raye Zaragoza, and the legendary singer-songwriter/actor Kris Kristofferson. For the Born On The Rez music video, PSA, and rockumentary, Romero traversed the nation, arriving on Treaty Lands & Territories know as Indian Country and inviting supporters to join his mission of raising awareness of the many violations of United States laws including the Constitution Of The United States — The Supreme Law Of The Land beginning with The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 and numerous National and International Human Rights, Civil Rights and Environmental Laws.

The campaign has received support from a number of Academy Award winners and noteworthy influential people of change including Patricia Arquette and Alisa Keesey of Give Love Organization, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Pete Nichols of Waterkeeper Alliance, Jack Huston, Ed Begley Jr., Helena Kallianiotes, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro.

Fans who pledge in support of the cause will get the AccessPass, which will give them early access to a digital download of the music, PSA, Rockumentary film, exclusive updates from Robby and his collaborators, and more. Supporters will also be able to pledge on exclusive items that are steeped in Native culture and are eco-friendly and sustainably sourced.

These include: T-shirts featuring the Red Thunder logo designed by award-winning Ojibwa artist, David Bradley, or T-shirts and patches featuring Water Protectors #Honor1851Treaty logo designed by award-winning Potawatomi artist, Doug Coffin; a silk scarf or cotton bandana featuring Water Protectors #Honor1851treaty designed by award-winning Acoma fashion designer, Loren Aragon; a handwritten Born On The Rez songbook penned and signed by Robby Romero; a Sand Creek Massacre Equinox viewing sheet used and signed by the First Nations production artists and crew while filming Born on the Rez music video at the Sand Creek location; handmade earrings beaded by singer, dancer, and artist Dakota Romero and worn during the filming of the Born On The Rez music video; and much more.
