An activist has read a statement on behalf of the Mirrar people of Australia’s Northern Territory at mining company Rio Tinto’s annual meeting. The statement calls for written assurances that the uranium mine at Jabiluka, on the Mirrar’s traditional territory, would be rehabilitated, with the excavated land filled in.
