Citing traditional Palauan values, President Tommy Remengesau sent a bill that would legalize gambling back to Parliament for reconsideration. The bill is aimed at increasing revenues through poker machines, pachinko, and a casino, and was approved by the Parliament. President Remengesau stated that he did not veto the bill outright in order to promote public debate.
