UPDATE:   A closed-door hearing for the women was held on August 5 in Moscow City Court. Supporters and representatives of diplomatic missions were allowed into the courtroom only to hear the decision read. The women will remain detained until at least September 15, when the next court date is scheduled.

Name of Second Russian Defendant Detained in the Aborigen Forum Case, along with Daria Egereva, Is Revealed

Today, March 12, Moscow’s Basmanny Court held another hearing on Daria Egereva's pretrial detention. The court extended her pretrial detention for three months, as requested by government investigators. The hearing was held in public and was attended by diplomats from several embassies, her husband, and her children. She is facing 20 years in jail on terrorism charges.

Daria Egereva Will Remain in Detention until March 15 After Court Decision

On December 17, 2025, Russian special services arrested Daria Egereva, a member of the Selkup Indigenous Peoples from the Tomsk region of Russia, on charges of “terrorism.” The next day, the court decided to detain her in custody for two months. Her next hearing is scheduled for the end of February and could deprive her of her freedom for up to 20 years. Egereva is a prominent Indigenous human rights defender and climate activist.
