Becoming a Yuwipi - Part 1
One of the newest elements in the Guatemala Radio Project is a series of programs in which indigenous spiritual leaders from around the world talk about their people's traditions. The talks are part of a lecture series sponsored by the Ringing Rocks Foundation, and the audio portion of the talks is translated into the four principal Mayan languages and broadcast on the radio stations through a partnership between Ringing Rocks and Cultural Survival. This video clip is from the first of these programs, by Lakota healer Gary Holy Bull. Read the article about him in the Cultural Survival Quarterly
Cultural Survival helps Indigenous Peoples around the world defend their lands, languages, and cultures as they deal with issues like the one you’ve just read about.
